The flat, oval plate removes the severe nutcracker action of the snaffle, and encourages the horse to be lighter and lean on the bit less, as there is more mobility in the mouthpiece.
The link lies flat against the horse’s tongue and transfers rein pressure more evenly over the bars.
The brass has a softening effect and promotes salivating
